Band History

So it was January 2002, my (Ben)'s bedroom. Joel said to me "You should learn drums and we can make a band, you like Green Day?". Thats the truth of how we started. So I saved up, got some drums and we became STRONGHOLD. Until about June 2002 it was just the two of us, until I met Dom at school and he told me about his new guitar he just got for his birthday. I took Dom and Joel to see Green Day and we decided that Dom should join the band.

In about August Henry Curr made the line up full as bassist. From then on we practised lots, and became a band with our own songs and not just covers. We renamed to Cheap Regrets in March 2003 when we realised it was in use by so many other bands. Then, March 13th 2003, we played our first ever gig, which we ran ourselves in a local hall. After that, for the rest of 2003 we played more shows that us and our friends organised. Until October 2003. Then we got a place at Bass Connection, youth centre and music practise facility where we got (and still get) given more, better gig opportunities.

In January 2004 I started another, smaller band. I asked good friend Richard Abram to get a bass and play with the band, and so he did. The band didn't do an awful lot, but Richard had a bass which was all that mattered, because after a quite successful 2004, with some small recordings and a few shows done, Henry left the band in November. It was an entire band decision and we're still good friends with Henry now. We had a gig the next day in a nightclub in town which our friends had hired out, so Richard took one school lunch time and one hour before the show after school to learn 8 songs and play them live that night, thus leading to him becoming full time CR bassist.

2005 led to us meeting 2 producers who wanted to record us and help get us launched as an artist. So the plan was to write, re-write and polish songs throughout early 2005 and record them in the summer, but unfortunately it didn't happen till September. Still, it happened and on that day, Tom Ray joined the band as lead vocalist too! It became Cheap Regrets, 5 piece band for the first time ever, and it's working out great.

2006 promises the finalisation of the recording and hopefully some rough mixes up around late February. Also planned are some very large scale gigs compared to our normal ones, which are almost 100% confirmed! Then hopefully the second half of the year will be full of tours/gigs and a CD to give to everyone, that includes YOU. So just hold tight! We're coming!
